AMATEUR RADIO LICENSING
The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) licenses Amateur Radio operators in the United States and it's possessions. The FCC currently issues three classes of Amateur license: Technician; General; Extra. The basic license class, Technician, requires 26 or more correct answers to a test consisting of 35 questions, randomly drawn from a pool of 350+ questions. .

Amateur Radio licensing classes are held periodically throughout the year, at various locations in the Low Country. Many persons successfully self-study for Technician license exam. The recommended study manual is The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual, available from the American Amateur Radio League (ARRL) for $29.95 plus shipping. Mentors, called "Elmers" in hamspeak, are available to assist you in your studies.

FCC License testing is held monthly on the third Wednesday in Goose Creek, SC. Testing fee is $12.00.
